DD, MM, & LL 10/28/2014

Daily Dozen - dozen things I'm grateful for
1. My sponsor whose bright eyes, whose appreciation for certain messages are so wise
2. My husband got to golf the last three days in a row. I hope we do something fun with the time over his break. But if we don't, he'll still have fun.
3. I don't need to entertain or answer to anybody in my life. There's ultimate freedom, the kind a ten year old dreams about day and night, the kind that a woman in an abusive relationship forbids herself to remember, the kind that you arrive at usually by so much kindness of everyone around you to allow you to be yourself.
4. I have a job that's interesting and important.
5. My pink water bottle. My husband thought about how it would make me feel happy, how it was a good steel bottle with no BPA, how I would like the color pink, and how I'd lost my old one. It's a culmination of lots of thoughts like these, and he got it for me for no special occasion, just on a normal day like today.
6. Pumpkin I carved was perfect. Its grainy messy insides were a little troublesome, but then made for great zombie brain fodder for Halloween.
7. Nuts. Nutritious, light weight, and filling.
8. Thai food. Soup last night was so yummy.
9. Being able to write and discuss, think.
10. Watercolor class I get to go to today.
11. I love working with my mentor and friend. I love sharing details of my life that I would with no one else, normally.
12. My life is full of dreams realized and I don't wish for past years of trouble and fear. I am so grateful and humbled by it all. It's a wonderful and amazing life. I have the deepest sympathy to those in their teen years and twenties, confused about what their lives are supposed to be about, how to "arrive" in the world and make a name, how to behave, how to achieve what they want in attention, love, and respect... those are tough challenges and supremely hard for those who didn't have the best mentors, teachers, or circumstances in childhood. The constant reminders of where you fell short are tiny monsters that will shred you apart. I'm glad that I don't have these little monsters today. Probably just for today, though. :-)

LL - Lessons learned
Telling someone the truth is a tricky business, if it's going to hurt his/her feelings. If you know it is going to hurt someone, it's even more difficult. And if you know it's going to hurt someone and you WANT TO hurt that person by telling this truth, then it's the most difficult of all.
